Insurance costs for some drivers in Northern Ireland have doubled in the past year, BBC News NI has been told.
The regulator, the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), has said price increases are due to rising costs associated with vehicle repairs.
The FCA has said it hoped to meet the Treasury to discuss the matter.
Spiralling insurance quotes were recently highlighted by East Belfast MLA Andy Allen, who has written to the FCA.
