A 23-year-old man has been charged after the four-wheel-drive he was driving struck and killed a male pedestrian on a footpath in Brisbane’s north early on Wednesday.

A man has been killed after being struck by a car on a footpath in Brisbane’s north early on Wednesday.

Police were called to reports a man was trapped under a car after being struck about 5.30am close to the intersection of Melton Rd and Dethridge St.

The pedestrian, a 73-year-old man, died at the scene.
