Loved ones will gather today to farewell Alan Dare, the heroic neighbour who was shot and killed in the deadly ambush on the Western Downs last week.
Queensland Police Commissioner Katarina Carroll announced the 58-year-old will be receiving a posthumous medal for bravery.
