An eight-year-old boy has suffered life-threatening injuries and another child is in hospital after a car allegedly hit them while they played in a laneway in a suburb in Melbourne’s west on Tuesday evening.

Victoria Police said a 48-year-old man was arrested after his Toyota Prado allegedly struck two parked cars in a rear laneway between Wirraway Ave and Liberator Lane in Braybrook before hitting two young children who were playing about 5.20pm.
