Police are appealing for public assistance to identify a group of suspects, believed to be responsible for several offences in South Brisbane overnight (December 14).

Just after 11.30pm four people in a silver coloured Toyota Landcruiser attempted to steal a Mazda CX-5 wagon, parking the vehicle and its driver into a carpark at a rail station in Salisbury.

Two of the men were seen by the driver and were armed with a machete and a hammer.
