An airbag inflator that is the focus of a controversial car recall in America could also be used in Australian vehicles.
67 million cars, almost a quarter of all American vehicles contain the ARC air-bag inflator that can explode and spray passengers with metal shrapnel.
The part has been linked to two deaths in the US as the Australian regulator has confirmed some vehicles in the country do use the inflator but can’t say how many.
